I’m a Full Stack Engineer with over 30 years of experience mostly on Unix and Linux systems. Specializing in Cloud Architecture, CI/CD and automation. My core programming languages are C, Go and Shell scripting. But I have spent years writing code on the following languages (some dead now): Clipper (xBase), Delphi, C++Builder, Perl and Python and very little java. Most of my work has been in the corporate world from the New York Stock Exchange to Fin-Tech fortune 500. I had some time and this seemed like a project I could take and give something back to the Retro computing community.

Origins

This project started from my personal desire to use SPARCstations for nostalgic, learning more about Ada and as a no distraction tool, for writing.

The initial foundation of this project including the complete SunOS 4 build environment, tool-chain bootstrapping, and baseline POSIX shims was engineered entirely without AI assistance.

Built directly on bare metal using a 40MHz Sun SPARCstation 10 running classic vi (until the environment was mature enough to compile vim), the core system architecture, header mappings, and SVR4/BSD compatibility layer were established through traditional manual debugging, deep system documentation analysis, and direct source inspection. Eventually built a farm of SPARCs in orders to use my time better as the builders were busy.

LSE Expansion: AI-Assisted Peer Programming

For a subsequent expansion into more complex targets. AI was utilized in an interactive peer-programing model

In this role the AI functioned as a real-time syntax checker, macro resolution assistant, and preprocessor debug partner helping helping identify header conflicts and hidden SunOS/Solaris tricks.

All architectural decisions, platform verification, final code integrations, and physical execution on vintage hardware remain either human created or human-guided and independently verified.
